The new year brings promises of resolutions, new beginnings, and exciting changes in fashion, and we predict that this year will be just as fun and bold as last year. While the economy still remains uncertain for many, people have tendencies to avoid letting these times get the best of them through bold fashion statements. Similar to last year, big and vintage-esque jewelry and designs will continue to prevail in 2013.
Layers
Layers create dynamic, strong statements as well a sense of movement in clothes, so we'll see more of this style in 2013 but more more sophisticated than last year. For example, wear long shirts or short dresses over snug pants or thick woolen tights on women and cardigans or long-button down shirts over a thin vest and t-shirt for men. Fitted coats or wraps with asymmetrical hemlines hug the shape and keep you warm without looking bulky, while knee-high boots make it fun. Thick, colorful scarves are also making a comeback for both men and women. Rather than finishing it off with a boring, bulky jacket, consider trying out a warm cape or cloak, which have also returned but in updated and streamlined forms. Also, for both genders, layering on jewelry, such as chain necklaces and bangle and chain bracelets in different materials. Layers have never been more fun!
Classic, Ethnic, and Retro
Last year, we saw a resurgence of retro styles, and this year we'll see a more modern twist to vintage clothing and jewelry styles as well as more ethnic styles. We predict that 2013 fashion will have more fun with Oriental, Indian, and southern and eastern European designs with classic jewelry and silks that add shine to your layered ensemble. If you’re in the mood for something more simple, we’ve also seen black make a comeback. Slimming and classic, black never goes out of fashion! Kicking the style up a notch is as easy as adding a few pieces of sleek leather with flat metallic jewelry in ethnic designs.
Emerald
Pantone's color for 2013 is emerald green, a rich and revitalizing jewel-toned color. Just as you saw last year's Pantone color, tangerine tango everywhere from household items to fine dresses, expect to see the same in emerald.
So where will fashion take us this year? 2013 fashion trend predictions include old-world revivals with a modern twist. Last year’s cool layered styles have returned, but with a more streamlined, updated look. Also, expect to see many clothes and jewelry accessories in emerald colors or its complementary colors. We’re excited about ringing in the new year with shimmering colors and rich fabrics and how designers will integrate these trends into this year's ensembles! |
