Solitaire Setting: Known as the classic or Tiffany setting, the solitaire setting is by far the
most popular. The diamond is lifted higher than other settings, revealing the maximum amount of

settings, it can easily get damaged or become caught in clothing.
Channel (Bar) Setting: The channel setting has small rows of diamonds around the ring with no
metal between them. Although this setting keeps diamonds well protected, it is expensive and very
difficult to ever have this particular ring re-sized.
Flush Setting: The flush, or gypsy setting, mounts the diamonds deep inside the ring so only
the top shows. The diamonds are well protected, very little light can enter the stone.
Bezel Setting: A bezel, or collar surrounds the diamonds and fixes them to the top of the
ring. A white or platinum bezel can make diamonds appear larger and the metal offers a lot of
protection. However, very little light can enter and the setting is relatively expensive.
Cluster Setting: The idea behind this setting is to make a visually large ring with a many
smaller stones. Since smaller diamonds are used, this can be more affordable than one large rock.
However, keep in mind that an active lifestyle makes the ring more susceptible to damage as the
setting protrudes out from the finger.
Illusion Setting: The diamond is mounted to a polished plate (acts as a mirror) and set inside
the band, giving the illusion of a larger stone. Although this setting makes the diamond appear
bigger and enhances the sparkle, the ring is difficult to repair.
Pave Setting: Small diamonds and bits of white metal are skillfully placed in holes along the
ring shake. The effect is the look of many tiny diamonds, or glitter, filling the surface.
Tension Setting: The tension setting is a new way of keeping stones in place. Using state of
the art springs, the effect is that the stone is barely held in place. Contrary to what you may
think, this is the most secure of all the settings.
