Care for loose Freshwater Pearls:
- Dirt and oil from your skin can corrode the nacre. To prevent this, wipe pearls with a damp
cloth often.
- Do not keep loose freshwater pearls in an air tight container. Pearls will crack if there is insufficient
moisture. Always include a damp cloth when storing your pearl jewelry.
- Use only mild soap or acetone. Never use jewelry cleaner with freshwater pearls.
- Only wear freshwater pearl jewelry when you are done applying makeup or perfume. These products can eat
holes in the nacre.
- Do not wear freshwater pearls when the string is wet- this will attract dirt that is difficult to remove.
- If worn regularly, restring freshwater pearls once a year.
