The Hope Diamond is a stunning dark purple- blue
color, formed over a
billion years ago formed within the Earth carried by a volcanic eruption
to the surface. Since the Hope Diamond was found in the early 1600s in

In 1958, Harry Winston donated the Hope Diamond to the Museum, and it

the eye of the Hindu goddess Sita, during his travels in India. Due to this transgression,
Tavernier was torn apart by wild dogs on his way back to Russia after selling the diamond.
